GRANITEVILLE, S.C. - Mr. Warren David Lowe, 72, entered into rest Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at his residence. A graveside inurnment will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, June 20, 2009 in Westover Memorial Park. Warren was born August 13, 1936 to the late Claudie Simpson and Olin W. Lowe. He was raised in Augusta, GA and North Augusta, SC. He graduated from North Augusta Senior High School in 1956, having played on the undefeated '55 - '56 Yellow Jacket football team. Following graduation, he spent 6 years in the Army National Guard. Warren spent many years working construction and maintenance until becoming a teacher in 1978. He taught Air Conditioning and Refrigeration at the Aiken County Career Center, retiring in 1998. He enjoyed crafting and coin collecting and would attend flea markets, festivals and craft shows with this wife until going into full retirement in 2002. Warren shared a passion for racing with his family. He devoted 22 years to helping his son and grandson build dirt track race cars and frequented dirt tracks across Georgia, South Carolina, Florida and Alabama. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, JoAnna L. Lowe; son, David W. Lowe; grandson, David A. Lowe; step granddaughter, Samantha McWaters; daughter, Tracy (Terry) Hughes; Granddaughter, Michelle (Aaron) Waller; great granddaughters, Aubreigh B. Waller and Lauren E. Waller; sister-in-laws, Billie (Bob) Halverson and Betty L. Hopkins; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; countless beloved friends as well as his much loved and faithful companion, Charlie. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Friday, June 19, 2009 from 6pm until 8 pm.
