Cartoon an insult to president

  • Follow Letters

Rick McKee's editorial cartoon (Augusta Chronicle, June 6) depicting President Obama apologizing for D-Day to a fully uniformed Adolf Hitler, was neither funny, appropriate, informative nor true in any sense.

It was a disgusting display of garbage thrown at the president of the United States by the Augusta Chronicle.

Of course, its intention was to denigrate the president's speech at Cairo where the president did apologize for the quagmire in Iraq orchestrated by George Bush and Dick Cheney. Whatever its intent, it insulted every soldier who fought and the many who died fighting fascism led by Hitler. It belittled the tremendous leadership of Presidents Roosevelt and Truman during and after Word War II.

The editorial board, which approved the cartoon, obviously did not watch, just one day before, the moving ceremony of President Obama and the survivor Elie Wiesel at Buchenwald where 53,000 Jews and thousands of others were killed on direct orders of Hitler. The president denounced forcefully Hitler's killing camps and denounced the revisionists who claim the Holocaust never occurred.

If there is an apology to be made, it should be Rick McKee and the Chronicle begging to apologize to our president and all those who died horribly at the camps and those who fought and died for the victory over the Nazis.

Lowell Greenbaum

Chairperson, Richmond County Democratic Party

It's just another example of the anti-Americanism from the right-wing. They truly hate that there's a black man as President, and he's nominating a Hispanic woman for Surpreme Court. It's killing them to the core. I'm waiting for the secession editorial any day!

Lowell, I know you will not

Lowell, I know you will not understand or accept that it was your beloved Obumble who " belittled the tremendous leadership of Presidents Roosevelt and Truman during and after Word War II." He seems to be a combination of Neville Chamberlain and Adolf Hitler. Chamberlain came home from a meeting with Hitler proclaiming that Hitler was no threat to England, and Hitler ran on a seemingly innocent and progressive platform for the office of Chancellor of Germany. He promised "change" just as your guy did. He then used the Bundestag to convert his position as a leader into a position as a dictator. I served in two branches of our military to stop such people as Obumble from gaining power over us. I was in Germany eleven years after WWII ended, and spent time meeting and talking to the German people who expressed sincere regret that Adolf had been allowed to assume the power he stole from the democratically elected representatives of the people. Now Obumble is doing the same thing, using the same type of charismatic appeal that Hitler did. We know you are a "yeller dog" Democrat, and even though we do get a good laugh at your foolishness, it is becoming tedious. So stuff it.

The All-White-Media's-Cartoonist did allow his hatred to enter into his work and it should be retracted, but it will not. Regardless of the inference, but what possible connection does our president have with Hitler? The president is a man of color; ol' Adolf was not. The cartoonist would have more in common with him than the president. Wow! The unbelieveable hatred toward this president is troublesome, but further demonstrates the rot of racism and how its played out in society. "We" will see more of this kind of hate pictures cloaked under the laws of "speeh" but the Rev Wright said it best...and many of "us" were listening.

Shivas, when are you going

Shivas, when are you going apoplectic that there is no "Native American" on the Supreme Court? Or how about a Japanese President? What is so sacrosanct about blacks and hispanics. Is it that they refuse to assimilate into the general culture they so rabidly attack? Does that make them superior in your eyes? No other ethnic group of immigrants strives so hard to make this country identical to the country they left to come here. Granted the blacks are here because their brothers sold them to Portugese slave traders and they are not here willingly; and the hispanics were starving in their native lands, but instead of trying to drag down the rest of our society, they could, eschewing government help, try to better themselves. Oh, but that would require "change" on their part. They would have to actually work, instead of being thugs.

The song that is currently being sung would have to be "Oh what a wonderful President we have since he is Black"...Please, shivas and justus, you and others who support this President simply out of blind loyalty because of his race are in for disappointment of the highest magnitude....To whom will you blame for the abject failure of this nation when all comes crumbling down only to emerge with the control of our nation in Socialist hands?...:-)

justus4, it would not matter

justus4, it would not matter if this president was purple and from a distant planet. He is no leader and his folly of spending out of bankruptcy and kow-towing to our well known adversaries will surely lead our great nation closer to ruin if not total collapse. But you, as all sheeple can NOT, will Not look pass the color aspect of this man and see that there is absolutely no substance to him.

Good morning Justus, who

Good morning Justus, who kicked your butt out of bed this morning? Who do we thank for rousing you to grace us with your presence? Does your computer have a "spell-check" function? As long as you and your ilk continue to be such strongly opinionated racists there will never be unity in this land. But, as soon as you figure out that any qualified, color-blind individual is always better than a raving racist who injects skin color into every situation, there will always be disharmony. When I left a position as assistant manager of a sporting goods department at Sears, I recommended a black man replace me, as he was the most qualified person in the store. He got the job, and we continued to be close friends until the time I left that area of the country. I did not make my recommendation based on his skin tone, but on the quality of his character. Does that last phrase ring any bells in your mind? It should! That is how Dr. Martin Luthor King, jr, wanted his people to be judged. Funny thing is that I was doing it before he made his speech (please note spelling). You and those like you are the source of my self-confessed bias against your race. I got it from you.

mckee, the talented artist,

mckee, the talented artist, is a good man. the cartoon? not so good. thanks dr. lowell g. for enlightening us with your fairly-written opinion column. when barack obama became prez, we expected malicious behaviors. last week, our new prez was stellar as our leader; in the mideast and in europe. he is slowly erasing the international disgrace that george bush created during his embarrassing 8-yr reign. when you're good, folks will dislike you. jealously? you said it. obama is quickly establishing himself as one of our finest u.s. presidents, worldwide ... therefore, his haters and detractors have no other recourse BUT to "disrespect" and "hate" on him. history will tell the real story. be patient, it's only been six months!!!

President obama is a man like

President obama is a man like other Pres. and subject to misjudgement on issues regardless of color. Cartoon is appropriate because it depicts his stand on dealing with enemies of our country that have proven to be enemies in today's world not when Hitler was in power. Did you notice how many more "African Americans" voted in election just because he was black. I do not apologize for things my ancestors have done:ie. slavery. Wonder how blacks would feel if they were still in Africa? Hmm different life there. Obama is right about one thing-keep friends close and enemies closer-then you are more able to know what they are up to. Just do not apologize for anything my ancestors have done because that is what molded our country. Our COUNTRY is the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and if you are a citizen it is the ONLY country you should claim as your own no matter where your ancestors came from.

Note the ones preoccupied

Note the ones preoccupied with "race", justus and shivas, just exposed their bigotry and racist attitude . I don't believe in race and the majority could give a flip if Obama were an asian women-it is his politics dummy. Don't try to change the topic or make voiced oppositions against Obama about race. That is your own delusions. By the same token we could say ALL Dems are misogynistic chauvenistic pigs because they didn't support Hillary Clinton and bashed Sarah Palin. See it works both ways-dummies.
