Ice cream bandit is sought

Authorities are trying to identify a man accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of ice cream from DairyLand Inc. since early April.

Security video released today by the Richmond County Sheriff's Office shows a man breaking into a truck on the DairyLand property at 2542 Mike Padgett Highway and making off with large amounts of the frosty treat. It's one of eight thefts at the same business.

Richmond County Investigator Alton Creech said the thief appears to have no preference for chocolate over vanilla and targets only the ice cream.

"He takes it all," Investigator Creech said

The suspect also has caused damage to the trucks and fence surrounding the property. He typically uses a crowbar to pry open the locks on the trucks and cuts through the fence. The culprit faces charges of felony entering an auto and theft by taking.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the sheriff's office at (706) 821-1080.

No he didn't have a key. If

No he didn't have a key. If you go to WRDW it will show you the whole video. He used a crow bar. And as for loretta's comment. This guy has done this over 8 times and has cost the company a lot of money with damages and stolen property. If someone had stolen from you several times and cost you alot of money you would change your tune. This video was courtesy of employees at Dairyland.

The theft by taking is

The theft by taking is included in the charges of entering an auto. I bet if you check local convenience stores, esp the small "shady" ones you might find the inventory. He is probably selling this stuff to the stores for drug/ alcohol money.

I'm not trying to be funny, but my God, if someone broke into my property and stole from me 8 times, I believe I'd do something a little more proactive than rig up a video camera.
