THOMSON --- Thomson High School's next head baseball coach will be a familiar face.
Jason Osborn, who served as an assistant under recently- retired head coach Terry Holder, was named the Bulldogs' head coach Tuesday, Thomson principal Rudy Falana said.
"I'm very honored to become the new head coach of the baseball program," Osborn said from a softball camp near Rutledge, Ga., on Wednesday morning.
"I was able to work with one of the best in the business. I learned a lot from coach Holder. He left us with a platform to build on and that's what we're going to do."
Osborn, a 1992 Westside High School graduate who came to Thomson four years ago, formerly served as head baseball coach at Hephzibah. Osborn will continue to serve as head coach of Thomson's softball team.
In addition to Osborn's new appointment, assistant coach Aaron Hall has been named assistant head coach of the Bulldogs' baseball team, Falana said.
The 33-year-old Hall, a 1994 graduate of Thomson, also serves as athletic director/head football coach at Thomson Middle School.
"We have the potential to have another great season," Hall said.
"I'm looking forward to it."
