Rants and raves

Comments from our readers:

A RANT to the person who found a lost dog and tossed it out of a car on Evans to Locks Road during rush hour traffic. A rave to Dr. Gross and his staff at Care More Animal Hospital for their kindness and help when I brought it in to be checked out.

"PERDUE SAID state agencies will lose 25 percent of their funding for June." And about time! State government wastes nearly as much as the federal government. Alas, Perdue plans to "soften the blow" by accepting the tainted federal "stimulus" money.

WHY NOT CHANGE the Golf & Gardens into a botanical garden like the one in Columbia? It would be a nice place for field trips, outings for older ones or just a place to go and admire all the beautiful flowers. Then Augusta can truly be the Garden City year round, not just at Masters time. A small fee could be charged to help keep it up.

I HAVE A RANT. I went into the tag office on Peach Orchard Road to renew my tag, and no other customers were in there at the time. They were too busy talking among each other to wait on me. When they finally got through with the conversation, one of them decided to help me, and it sounded like it killed her to say "next."

THE RICHMOND COMMISSION is split on the TEE center. Meanwhile, it appears taxpayers have been paying taxes for that "center" but getting nothing for their money. In other words, this is a super mess that is being run with the standard operating procedure of modern government -- total confusion.

TAKE THAT SILLY POND by Regency Mall out of the SPLOST, and I will vote for it. The last thing that area needs is a mosquito magnet.

DOES ANYBODY with a driver's license have any clue what "slower traffic keep right" means? I think we need to plant these signs like trees all over the place. If so, it would make traffic run much smoother and contribute to less road rage.

I CANNOT BELIEVE the rave a reader sent for Dick Cheney and the Bush administration stating, "They at least kept us safe for the last eight years and the economy was good until the Democrats took over." Is this person kidding or just seriously uninformed? Did the Bush administration keep the victims of Katrina safe? How about the victims of 9/11? As for the economy, the situation we're in now started well before the Democrats took over. The economy started tanking with the war in Iraq.
