METS: Outfielder Carlos Beltran was out of the lineup Sunday because of a stomach virus, and fill-in center fielder Angel Pagan left in the fourth inning against Florida with discomfort in his right groin. He is day to day, adding to the injury-ravaged team problems.

DODGERS: Lefty Eric Stults was placed on the 15-day DL because of a sprained thumb on his pitching hand, clearing a spot in the rotation for opening day starter Hiroki Kuroda .

The team also called up reliever Travis Schlichting from Double-A Chattanooga.

PADRES: Manager Bud Black said right-hander Jake Peavy (right ankle tendinitis) will make his scheduled start Tuesday against Philadelphia.

REDS: Right-hander Edinson Volquez will be activated from the 15-day DL (back spasms) and make his ninth start of the season today in the opener of a four-game series at St. Louis. He left a game against San Diego on May 16 with mild spasms in his back and went on the DL on May 22.

MARLINS: Infielder Wes Helms felt ill and was not in the lineup. Manager Fredi Gonzalez said he was to be examined by a doctor.

PIRATES: Rookie left-handed reliever Donnie Veal was placed on the 15-day DL because of a right groin strain.
