Honest, law-abiding unions??? One needs only to look at the steel, airline, and auto industries to see the usefulness of labor unions.
The right of secret ballot is as American as apple pie, the Fourth of July, etc. Yet some labor union leaders, in a desperate attempt to reverse declining memberships, are seeking to rob American workers of that precious right by the proposed, euphemistically named "Employee Free Choice Act."
With the secret ballot, workers already are quite free to choose union control if they want that, but free also from the characteristic union intimidation, coercion threats, and bullying that led to the existing protection that allows a secret ballot.
Certainly, honest, law-abiding labor unions have a place in our country. Yet, this blatant power grab by some union bosses, and others who expect to receive paybacks from union domination, is exceedingly un-American. To preserve the freedoms of American workers, let's urge our legislators to protect this precious right of the secret ballot!

Destroying the choice of the voter is one of the goals of this administration. Supporting the unions in the "anti-choice" legislation is just the beginning. See America continue to be destroyed from within. See Americans refuse to notice as they hold their hands out for more social services.
Eliminate ALL UNIONS. They are destroying the country.

Try reading up on the act from a neutral source, not a propaganda site. The EFCA still allows for the secret ballot if 30% of employees sign cards, but skips the election if 50%+1 sign it. And here is a little known fact, the cards in question can be from years before the act is passed and put into place. You could sign a unionization card today to get a union organizer to leave you alone fully intending to vote NO in the election. The act is passed and signed later this year and goes into effect next year, your signed card is still valid. You have just voted to be represented by a union. These union organizers can ask you at work, at home, anywhere they can find you, as often as they want until you sign.

Posted by afadel on Sun May 31, 2009 8:18 AM....About all I saw was a union propaganda ad against employers. I had rather read the legislation itself. Th letter writer is spot on as far as union intimindation, threats, etc.
