GRANITEVILLE, S.C. - Entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 24, 2009, Mr. Larry Alex Mathis, age 64 of Graniteville, S.C., son of Dorothy Boatright Mathis and the late Alex Mathis. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son, Larry Sans (Laurie) Mathis; raised as his daughter, Angel LaFaye Prescott; stepdaughters, Lynn Volick and Tammy Jordan; stepson, Johnny Jordan; grandson, Winston Cole Mathis all of Jacksonville, Florida and a number of step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. He was formerly married to Faye Duggan for over 30 years. He was born in Statesboro, Georgia, spent his teenage years in Graniteville, S.C. but has spent most of his adult life in Jacksonville, Florida. He was a member of Christian Heritage Church in Graniteville, S.C. He was a US Navy Veteran having served his country during the Vietnam War. A celebration of his life will be conducted Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Christian Heritage Church with Pastor Stephen Phillips and Pastor Jonathan Randall officiating. The interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens in Langley, S.C. The pallbearers will be Joel Randall, Tommy Proctor, Sammy Odom, Joe Taylor, Jody Padgett and James Huff. The family will receive friends tonight, Tuesday, May 26th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Christian Heritage Church, 285 Ascauga Lake Rd., Graniteville, S.C.
