Letter to the Editor
Pundits in the past often have pointed to a particular national election as being a crucial turning point in our country's progress. One doesn't have to be a learned expert to see that just such an election will take place in 2010.
It will be up to voting Democrats to turn out of office any senator or House member whose primary allegiance is to our young president rather than the people who voted them into office. Congressional members of both the Senate and the House must represent us, not blindly follow the wishes of an untried president who believes he can pack 40 to 50 years of change into a mere four years.
Surely those voters who elected President Obama did not realize they were voting for uncontrollable spending and national debt, ignoring our own nation's considerable natural resources and rendering our Constitution irrelevant.
One area of immediate improvement would be the dumping of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who would lead her party over a cliff if the White House told her to. Those House members who continue to support this self-aggrandizing prevaricator should lose their seats. That Pelosi sits third in line for the presidency surely presents a clear and present danger to us all.
Much is being said right now about the lack of political health in the Republican Party. The Democratic Party members must take heed. Continued blind support for the extreme views of their party's ideologues is a political virus that could cost them dearly. Let's all get out and vote in 2010.
