I agree that the young driver should be ticketed but I hope they don't go overboard on her. There is no doubt she has learned a hard lesson and that in itself is "charges" enough.
Second-grader positive on tuberculosis test
A second-grade pupil at John Milledge Elementary School tested positive for tuberculosis recently.
The case appears to be an isolated one and no other students have tested positive, according to Louis Svehla, director of public information for the Richmond County schools.
Mr. Svehla said that the child, who tested positive Tuesday, did not get the disease while attending school and was not allowed back into school for the rest of the week. The school system and the Richmond County Health Department drafted a letter letting parents know where to have their children tested if they were worried about the disease.
Because school ended Friday, there was not enough time to conduct tests at school, he said.
Teen suffers critical injuries in car wreck
A Lincolnton, Ga., teenager who was injured in a car wreck in Columbia County on Saturday remained in critical condition Sunday at the Medical College of Georgia Hospital.
MCG spokeswoman Denise Parrish said Tyler Epps, 16, was still being treated after being airlifted to the hospital Saturday.
Columbia County sheriff's Deputy Keith Warner said the wreck occurred about 2 p.m. Saturday on Ray Owens Road, near Appling.
Mr. Epps was riding in the back seat of the vehicle when it crashed going around a curve. The vehicle overturned several times and landed in a ditch.
The driver, Ashley Teeters, 16, of Martinez, and another passenger, Ian McGahee, 15, of Lincolnton, were taken to MCG for treatment of minor injuries.
Speed appears to have been a factor in the wreck.
None of the teens were wearing seat belts, and charges are pending against the driver, Deputy Warner said.

Good point, APiratesLife4Me.
Another attempt by the RCSB to double talk and deceive. First the kid is identified on Tuesday, and all other students were tested and none were positive. In the very next statement , they are drafting a letter telling students where to go get tested? Come on, you either are trying to draft a letter, or you are concerned and SENT a letter, which is it? And the greatest of all, they didn't have time between tuesday thru friday to test students at school. Well did they test the students or not? Man we need to give the super a huge bonus for his handling of this minor problem. Either he is a moron or he thinks we all are, which is it?
That is tragic for the kids involved in the wreck. It dosen't take much to flip one these days and I am sure they were out having fun like all teens. I hope the kid gets well soon. And I believe the driver has and is still probably suffering because of it. If I were a judge in the case I would sentence her to a month of volunteering at a hospital emergency ward, that would really be the best punishment for her.
What do you mean "it doesn't take much to flip one these days"?
High speed and not being in control of the vehicle is what caused it to flip. Driver education is totally inadequate in this country. As a private pilot I have always believed that you can never have too much training. With all the distractions that kids have these days with MP3 players, cell phones and texting it is far more dangerous on the road than it was 30 years ago. I'm happy for the defensive driving course my parents had me take, and then performance driving courses and training for SCCA racing. Again, you can NEVER have too much training..........
Well, that is what I would prefer APiratesLifeForMe, but that wouldn't exactly be fair, considering what they have done to other young drivers in the courts, male and female, who have made first offense deadly driving errors. The courts should be consistent. If she gets a pass, there are a lot of young people that should appeal their sentences.
i was the first on the scene when the accident happened. the young lady passed me on the road and i came upon her a few seconds later on the side of the road. my son and i and a few other people did the best that we could to make both of the teenagers comfortable and to keep them from moving until the EMT's arrived. the third passenger was thrown from the car and had no visible injuries. our prayers go out to their families, this was a very bad accident but it could have easily been much worse.
I think everyone should be thankful and we all should pray for Tyler Epps and his family instead of this aruging about tickets TYLER NEEDS ALL OF US TO PRAY so set aside this bull crap today and every day lets pray for a moment for him thank u all
When you are ill,
our sun goes under a cloud.
Your presence in our lives
is such a bright joy
that everything seems in shadow
when you're not here.
When you aren't feeling well,
we feel the lack
of your glowing energy
and contagious vitality.
When you are sick
we feel incomplete,
like a jigsaw puzzle
with a missing piece;
Please rest,
take good care of yourself,
and feel better.
We miss you
and want you back.
Get well soon.
Tyler this is for you we all love you and we pray for you to get well
