DONNER, La. - Mr. Stephen Phillip Callaway, 61, formerly of Washington, Ga., died Tuesday, May 19, 2009 in a work related accident in Louisiana. Mr. Callaway was born in Wilkes County and was the son of Milton and Harriett Blackwell Callaway. He was a self-employed tree surgeon and served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War. He served one full year in Vietnam. He was a member of the Washington First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Mil Callaway; and by a brother, Ronnie Callaway. A graveside memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 3 p.m. at Resthaven Cemetery in Washington. Mr. Callaway is survived by two sons, Jeremie Callaway, Scottsdale, Ala. and Anthony Callaway, Salt Lake City, Utah; one daughter, Audrey Davis, Rocky Mount, N.C.; his mother, Harriett B. Callaway, Washington; one brother, Baron Callaway, Orangeburg, S.C.; one sister, Beth Buller, Washington; and four grandchildren.
