WASHINGTON, Ga. - Mr. James Alvin Davis, Sr., 76, of Tignall Rd., died Thursday, May 21, 2009 at Wills Memorial Hospital. Mr. Davis was born in Jackson County and had lived in Washington for most of his life. He was the son of the late Paul and Louise Cofield Davis, husband of Sarah Burleson Davis, and proprietor of Davis Welding. He served in the National Guard and was a member of Washington Chapel. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Olivia Ann Davis. Graveside services will be Sunday, May 24, 2009, at 3 p.m., at Resthaven Cemetery with Peter Hoffman officiating. Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Sarah B. Davis of the home; three sons, James (Lillie) Davis, Jr., and Mike (Pam) Davis, both of Washington, and Dale (Ginger) Boyer, of Greenwood, S.C.; two daughters, Tracy (Brett) McAvoy, Washington, and Dawn (Joe) Barwick of Pensacola, Fla.; one brother, Jack (Martha) Davis, Washington, and one sister, Paulette (Henry) Cagle of Gainesville; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
