AIKEN, S.C. - Jewell Watson went to be with her Savior the morning of May 15th. She was 91 years old. She was longing to be with Jesus and her husband of 60 years, Douglas S. Watson who had gone on before in May of 2000. She was raised in Lavonia, GA, attended Toccoa Falls Bible College, met and married Douglas and began a 60-year career of wife, homemaker, and mother. She followed Douglas as he attended Columbia Bible college and Faith Theological Seminary and then taught at Emmaus Bible School (Toronto Canada, Oak Park, IL), Faith Theological Seminary (Elkins Park, PA), Columbia Bible College (CIU, Columbia, SC), Carver Bible College (Atlanta, GA), and Augusta Center for Biblical Studies (Augusta, GA). When Douglas went Home, she moved to Aiken, SC to live with her children. Her legacy is one of prayer and sacrificial love for her children, love for and faithfulness to her husband, love for her beloved family of believers at her local assembly, and a faithful and true friend to so many. She will be remembered for her good nature, her smile, her excellent country cooking, her honesty, and courage. It is because of Mom and her prayers that her children all walk with the Lord today. She will be acutely missed, but we also realize that she is where she has wanted to be for so many years - with Jesus and Douglas. She is safe, eternally young, beautiful, and completely happy. She is survived by 5 children: Donald Watson, Douglas Watson, Faith Simmons, Ruth Bailey, and Stewart Watson. She is also survived by two brothers: Billy and Dwight South of Lavonia and Stone Mountain, GA. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Jewell's memorial service will take place Saturday June 13, 10:00 a.m., at Believers Gospel Chapel, 3565 Peach Orchard Rd. Augusta, GA. Her desire was that, in lieu of flowers, donations be given to Christian Missions in Many Lands (CMML Inc. www.cmmlusa.org/) . Make any checks to CMML Inc. In the "For" line put "in memory of Jewell S. Watson." If you prefer, checks could be received at the service and passed along to the organization. Sign the guestbook at AugustaChronicle.com
