AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center, Mr. Jimmie Desmond Harkey, 54, son of Jimmie and Elsie Harkey of North Augusta, SC. Mr. Harkey was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta and retired Insurance Claims Adjuster. He served in the US Navy. Mr. Harkey enjoyed playing pool, loved motorcycles, and enjoyed have a good time. Family members in addition to his parents include: sisters: Lynne Kiley, Kim Cardin and husband H.E. and Donna Lemacks and husband Donald; nephews and nieces: Jonathan Kiley, Wesley Lemacks, Drew Cardin, Aleighsa Cardin, and Elizabeth Lemacks. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: the late Arthur and Mattie Taylor; and paternal grandparents: the late Creed and Nellie Caldwell. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 22, 2009, at 4:00 PM in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. H.E. Cardin officiating. Pallbearers will be Donald Lemacks, Johnathan Kiley, Wesley Lemacks, Joe McBurney, Jack Brock, Jr., and Wendell Brock. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
