LOUISVILLE, Ga. - Rev. Edward Emmett 'Ed' Deen, age 80, died Tuesday, May 19, 2009, in the University Hospital in Augusta. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00AM, Friday, May 22, 2009, in the Louisville First United Methodist Church with Dr. James T. Pennell, Rev. Emory C. Gilbert, and Rev. V.L. Daughtry officiating. A service will also be held 4:00 PM Friday in the Hopewell United Methodist Church in Baxley, Georgia with Rev. Lamar Rabun officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Jack McCullough officiating. A native of Baxley, Georgia, Rev. Deen, was a son of the late Emmett and Lenora Waters Deen. Rev. Deen attended Rhinehart Junior College, Asbury College, and received his Master of Divinity from Emory University in Atlanta. He served in the ministry for 50 years, and pastored several Church throughout South Georgia. Rev. Deen is survived by his wife Mary Eva Deen, of Louisville, a daughter, Betty Sue Green, and her husband Ricky of Bartow, a brother, Paul Deen, and his wife, Tillie, of Baxley, two grandchildren, Brandy Green of Louisville and Michael Green, of Louisville, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The Deen family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, at the funeral home and on Friday 3:00 to 4:00 PM at Hopewell United Methodist Church in Baxley.
