AUGUSTA, Ga. - Valerie Andrews Tolbert, a native of Augusta, Georgia, was born on September 20, 1954 to Lucille (Brown) Andrews and the late Oblee Andrews. On Friday, May 15, 2009, God commissioned a Guardian Angel to bring forth a child, for her laboring days were over and this day she shall receive Eternal Rest, and so it was done. As a young adult, Valerie joined the Beulah Grove Baptist Church. As a child, she was very outgoing and shared a tremendous joy for family, friends, and her love of people. She attended Charles T. Walker Elementary School and Glenn Hills High School and was employed at Fort Gordon food services for a number of years. She leaves to cherish her memory: a devoted daughter, Finescia N. Tolbert of Augusta, Ga.; two sons, Curtis Andrews and Courtney Tolbert of Augusta, Ga.; a loving mother, Lucille Andrews of Augusta, Ga.; a father and mother- in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Vernon (Hattie) Williams of Augusta, Ga.; five brothers, Carl (Patricia) Andrews, Oblee Williams, Richard Andrews, and Efrem Andrews, all of Augusta, Ga., and Antaun (Lenora) Andrews of North Augusta, S.C.; two sisters, Myra (Thomas) Moss of Augusta, Ga. and Vanessa (Lecola) Mungo of McDonough, Ga.; a devoted sister- in-law, Joann Ports of Augusta, Ga.; two uncles, Charles Bryant and John Harris of Augusta, Ga.; three great aunts, Clarissa Williams, Geraline Smith, and Clara Gray, all of Augusta, Ga.; a devoted friend, Gregory Blount, Augusta, Ga.; fourteen grandchildren; and a large host of nieces, nephews, cousins, acquaintances, and friends. Funeral services will be held at Reid Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Trowell officiating. Interment will follow in Southview Cemetery.
