NEW YORK - I Lost My Choo powered to a 1¾-length victory over Nehantic Kat in the $111,000 Mount Vernon Stakes for fillies and mares at Belmont Park on Sunday.

The 6-5 favorite, I Lost My Choo had a class edge on her nine rivals. The 4-year-old trained by Phil Serpe for owner-breeder Flying Zee Stables had won two of her previous four races, both Grade 3 stakes against open company. The Mount Vernon on the turf was restricted to horses bred in New York, a much easier spot.

Jockey Jose Lezcano bided his time, turning I Lost My Choo loose in midstretch for her seventh win in 12 starts. She ran the 1 1-16 miles on the firm course in 1:42.52.

I Lost My Choo earned $66,600 while paying $4.60, $3.40 and $2.50. Nehantic Kat returned $8.70 and $4.30. You Go West Girl paid $2.80 to show.
