The listed events are open to the public, although membership in some organizations might be required.

Thursday: Friends of the National Rifle Association will hold its annual fundraising banquet at the Julian Smith Casino, Milledge Road and Broad Street, Augusta, at 6 p.m. A barbecue dinner will be served by Sconyers, followed an auction and raffle. Saturday: The Augusta Museum of History and the Augusta Archaeology Society will sponsor Archaeology Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ezekiel Harris House, 1822 Broad St. There will be professional and avocational archeologists on hand to identify artifacts. In addition, there will be artifact displays, flint knapping, and prehistoric weapons demonstrations. Admission is free and includes admittance into the Ezekiel Harris House. JUNE 5: Mistletoe State Park will host a two-hour guided night canoe cruise. Each cruise is limited to six canoes, with three people per canoe. Participants should arrive at the park at 7:30 p.m., and the cruise hours on Thurmond Lake will be from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. A full moon is expected and cruise leaders will combine interpretive lectures with the paddling. The cost is $30 per person, plus a $3 parking fee. Canoes, paddles and other equipment are provided. Proceeds benefit the Friends of Mistletoe State Park organization, a non-profit group that donates volunteer work and funds. Call (706) 541-0321 for reservations or more details.

JUNE 25: Savannah Riverkeeper Inc. will hold its annual member meeting and cookout from 6-8 p.m. at Julian Smith Barbecue Pit, Milledge Road, Augusta, with a lowcountry boil, updates on important environmental issues and other fun activities.
