AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Thursday, May 14, 2009 at Doctors Hospital, Mrs. Frances Colette Black Blodgett, 53, wife of Russell M. Blodgett. Mrs. Blodgett was a native of Paris, France and had lived in Augusta most of her life. She was a graduate of Glenn Hills High School and Augusta State University with a major in History. Mrs. Blodgett was a substitute teacher for Columbia County Schools and a member of St. Mary on-the-Hill Catholic Church. Family members in addition to her husband include her mother: Paulette V. Black of Augusta; daughter: Angelique Knight of Augusta; sister: Melody Ann Black of Atlanta; nieces: Olivia, Stephanie and Alice Black all of Paris, France; nephew: Adam Knight of Atlanta and brother: Michel Black of Montpelier, France. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, May 21, 2009, at 11:30 AM at St. Mary on-the-Hill Catholic Church with Rev. Mark Van Alstine officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Knights of Columbus Patrick Walsh Council. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 1105 Furys Lane, Suite D, Augusta, GA 30907. The Vigil for the Deceased will be held Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at 6:30 PM and the family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:30 at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Rd., Augusta, GA 30907 (706) 364-8484.
