Military families appreciate fun day
Letter to the Editor
Thursday, May 14, 2009

I had the pleasure of attending Operation Augusta Cares at the Wilson YMCA recently with my four children, and was duly impressed.

It was obvious that a lot of thought and hard work had gone into this event. Not only did we have fun, but we were treated wonderfully by all the volunteers.

As my 6-year-old son put it, "That was fun, Mom! I guess they wanted the kids like us to do that who were missing the hugs and kisses from Dad when he's in Iraq."

So on behalf of my family, I want to say thank you to all those volunteers and sponsors of Operation Augusta Cares -- especially the YMCA, Aldersgate Methodist Church and the Quest Church. Thank you!
