LINCOLNTON, Ga. - Mrs. Millie Augustus Haynes Ashmore, 88 of Ashmore-Barden Rd., died Sunday, May 10, 2009 at Lake Crossing Health Care, near Appling. Mrs. Ashmore, daughter of the late Angelo Eugene and Millie Scott Haynes, was a native of Wilkes County but had lived in Lincoln County most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Martin's Crossroads Congregational Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Ashmore; sons, Richard Ashmore and Charles Ashmore; granddaughter, Jennifer Edmunds; and great-granddaughter, Nicole Ashmore. She is survived by: sons, J.C. Ashmore and wife, Joy, William T. 'Bill' Ashmore and wife, Sue, Haynes Ashmore, and wife, Cathy Sue; daughters, Josephine Thornton, and husband, Charles, Felicia Thornton, and husband, Jasper, Callie Edmunds and husband, Lonnie, all of Lincolnton, Ga.; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; sister, Peggy H. Haynes, Greenwood, S.C. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at 5 p.m. at Martin's Crossroads Congregational Holiness Church with Revs. Kenneth Law and James James officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Ashmore's grandsons and great-grandsons, Steve Ashmore, Chris Thornton, Brad Thornton, Scott Ashmore, Dave Ashmore, Freddie Edmunds, Jacob Harmon, Andrew Ashmore, and Charles Ashmore, Jr., will serve as pallbearers.
