JACKSON, S.C. - Mrs. Ernestine Hiers Bradley, 89, of Gum Swamp Rd., formerly of Bamberg, S.C., died May 9, 2009 at Ayer's Private Care in North Augusta, S.C. Ernestine was born November 13, 1919 in Lodge, S.C., to the late Ernest Hiers and the late Marie Houck and was also preceded in death by her husband, Dee Fitts Bradley. She was a graduate of Columbia College and a member of First Baptist Church, Bamberg, S.C. She retired after 35 years of teaching in the public schools. She enjoyed teaching, gardening, music, playing Bridge with her friends, and loved her church. Graveside services will be Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Bamberg County Memory Gardens with Rev. Charlie Bernard and Rev. Kelly Shanks officiating. Survivors include: one son, Eddie and his wife, Debbie Bradley of Jackson, S.C.; two nieces, Dianne Wood of Atlanta, Ga., and Phyllis McInerney of Edisto Beach, S.C. Visitation will be Monday, May 11, 2009, from 6-9 p.m. at Cooner Funeral Home in Bamberg, S.C. The family will be receiving friends and relatives at Cooner Funeral Home and may sign the register book there. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 355, Bamberg, S.C. 29003.
