I have noticed a disturbing trend in The Chronicle's Rants & Raves column over the past month or so.
From the wording and sentence structure of a number of rants you have published over the past month or so, the rants appear to have been written by the same obvious Bush- and Republican Party hater. It would be interesting to check and see if those rants were made by the same person.
I guess, if nothing else, we should pity the person who has so much hate in his heart. But, then again, based on the excessive hatred and closed-minedness, could the writer understand our pity? I really feel sorry for the writer.

Ranters and hate spewers, as much as I abhor them, are protected by the 1st Amendment Mr. Wilson. By the way, are there no ranters and hate spewers doing the same from the Republican side of the aisle? Perhaps you've failed to notice, sir. GGpap
Surely this letter is a ruse. The question that should be asked is: Does The Chronicle have any standards at all for what it will publish as a Letter to the Editor?

Should the Chronicle censor all letters and rants? I think that would be worse than printing them.
Rants are a different story.. but LTEs are featured and should display atleast display some cogent thought and basic writing ability. A newspaper is not obligated to print every letter they get. papers generally have some editorial standards over what they will print.. not that they are censoring opinions, just that they should want to keep some basic minimal standards on what appears on the editorial page. Some of these LTEs in the Chronicle read like they were written by a 6 year old or ppl with severe dementia.
This person might stop their rants if someone would tell them Bush is no longer President.

The Bush hater rants do not know anything about the president they supported but they do know that they hate Bush. It makes them feel like they are bringing something to the table.
If anyone IS spewing hate about Bush and the Republicans, the question is why? The Dems. won. They control the House and Senate and White House, and their Messiah is going to unite the country and the world, and we'll all hold hands and sing "koom bye yah"..........Right?

The Comical has a habit of printing ridiculously random LTEs that leave you thinking "This has to be a joke, right??" I'll never forget the letter where someone went on about the moon landing being faked.
When CNN and/or NPR tell the Bush haters to chant a new mantra, they'll never mention Bush again.

I think there are as many Obama haters ,as there are Bush haters.
Good Point 41, in fact it is a sad testimony on our current society that there are haters in general or at all. Maybe during today's day of prayer, we need to pray for all of the haters to soften their hearts and purge them of the sin of hatefulness.
I guess three hours worth of hatred from Rush is ok, not to mention Hannity, Beck, Boortz, et al.
1941, Niko. Peace and tranquility does not sell in 2009. Conflict and violence is what people pay to see. I agree with both your posts, but changing that mentality will take generations, just as the creation of that mentality took generations. Even when I organized a group to "lay off" the attacking here, the "victim" started soliciting the attacks herself. It's the exact same thinking that causes "rubbernecking" at car wrecks. May God have mercy upon us all.
I do not HATE Obama. I disagree with all his economic policies, and agree with many of his social policies. He, by his own admission, does not have the experience or qualifications to be POTUS. OJT for this job does not make a good 4 years, regardless of DEM or GOP affiliation.
