Here I am again, writing to defend my Second Amendment right.
As Vladimir Lenin said, "One man with a gun can rule a hundred without one." We already have hundreds of gun regulations on the books now. Obviously, letter writer David Matos ("Still no changes in our gun laws," April 20) has never bought a handgun, because if he had he would know that there is an instant background check that goes through the GBI.
We the people do not need more regulations or registrations of our guns. Ask the people of California about registration. When California passed a law for all who owned any assault style weapons, six months later they passed another one deeming these weapons illegal. They then confiscated every weapon that was registered.
By the way, the criminals didn't get theirs taken away. They kept theirs.
The Second Amendment was placed in the Bill of Rights to protect the people and our freedoms that 99 percent of Americans take for granted. Those rights are not guaranteed without the Second Amendment in place. President Obama and all of his miscreants are trying their hardest to disarm us so they can rule over us. Wrong answer, people. We do not serve the government; they are our servants.
Just take a look at some of the cities with the most stringent gun laws ever. Their crime rate is through the roof. So explain to me again how gun control deters crime, other than disarming law-abiding citizens.
As the saying goes: "A man with a gun is a citizen. A man without one is a subject." If you want my guns, come and get them. Oh, and good luck.

Shannon, in general I agree with your letter. However, I would advise you to think twice about your final paragraph. I believe you wouldn't do a damn thing if the feds came to take your guns away. Hollow threats get you nowhere. Make better plans on how to deal with forced confiscation, Shannon. GGpap

The progressives are after our Constitutional rights. It's a known fact that the progressives, that are in control at this time, have two agendas. The progressives believe its religion and guns that cause the violence in the United States and through out the world. The progressives want to take away the first and second amendments to the US Constitution. The Conservatives see this coming we know what BARRY and his Elite Progressives agendas are. I don't own any guns but I wish I did. Thanks to Obama they cost too much now. Everyone done got scared of him and started buying them and now the price is sky high. I guess I'll just hold to my religion since I can cling to guns and religion. I sure am glad we legalized interacial dating so Justus had something to talk about on the gun posts.

From '33 to '36, when it was Marxist Germany, the charismatic leader persuaded the population that he represented change they could believe in and that he'd end corporate greed and that if they'd just register their guns, he'd be able to guarantee their safety. Soon, the change they got was confiscation of corporations and guns and the total control of all action taken within the country. During and after the civl rights movement they began to flock to the Repubs and now make up the main constituency of the Republican party. Where was the LTE writer when the previous administration actually elimimated the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 8th Amendments (as opposed to what Obama might do)? Personally, I prefer our leaders to uphold the entire Constituition.

This moron does not seem to understand that it is the Supreme Court that defends your right to bear arms per the Constitution, not the Presdient. The President and Congress cannot take that away without a supermajority vote to amend the Constitution, which will never happen in today's political climate. The country today is centrist, not liberal or conservative. As a side note, guns should be better regulated so people who should not have them or don't take care of them should not be able to get them. See what happens if your kid gets shot because his friend got ahold of daddy's loaded shotgun because he didn't lock the cabinet. Education and regulation will deal with the problems people have with misuse of their guns.
