Southern Anglers Challenge

Clark Hill Division

Registration will be held at the ramp. Anglers must pay a one-time $30 membership fee. Entry fee is $100, plus a $10 big fish pot fee and $10 championship fee. Entry fees are due the Thursday prior to the tournament to avoid late fees. The 2009 championship pays a guaranteed $15,000 to the winners and 100 percent payback to the remaining paid places.

American Bass Anglers

Schedule: Saturday-Sunday , Amity boat ramps, Lincoln County (two-day event).

American Bass Anglers is the largest tournament trail for the weekend angler, with more than 116 districts offering more than 1,000 tournaments throughout the nation.

Membership is open to anyone 16 years old and over, but is closed to professional fishermen and professional guides. Those under 18 must have their parents' consent.

Cary Rook and Dereck Fulton, 35 crappies, 14 pounds, 12 ounces. Jewel Jessie and Bob Palagyi, 13 crappies, 6 pounds, 4 ounces (tie) and Jeff Pelke, by himself, 6 pounds, 4 ounces. Thirteen fishermen caught 60 crappies.

April 19 results

Larry Slover and Travis Weathers, five bass, 11 pounds, 2 ounces. Jewel Jessie and Bob Palagyi, five bass, 9 pounds, 3 ounces. Jacob Yaden and Robert Rau, five bass, 7 pounds, 9 ounces. Big fish: Slover, 4 pounds, 1 ounce. Twenty-six fishermen caught 45 bass weighing 68 pounds.

Schedule: May 3, bass tournament, safe light until noon, on any Fort Gordon lake open for fishing. May 17, bass tournament, safe light until noon. June 6, Kids' Fishing Derby, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., Claypit Lakes.

Tournaments will be limited to the first 20 boats and are open to all ID cardholders and the public with a Fort Gordon fishing license guest permit. Entry fee is $10 per Fort Gordon Sportsman Club member, $20 per non-member, with an optional $5 big fish pot, with a guaranteed $100 for first place and $50 for second place. Registration is with the club prior to the tournament or 30 minutes before the event's start. State licenses and Fort Gordon fishing permits required.
