HEPHZIBAH, Ga. - Harry Richard Vaught, 77, of Hephzibah, GA entered into rest on April 21, 2009, at his home, embraced in the love of his family and friends. Harry, a native of Conway, SC and a retired contractor, lived in Hephzibah for 33 years. A Clemson graduate and a member of Masonic Lodge #412 in Hephzibah, Harry and his wife of 54 years, Sylvia, attended St James United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 24, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, GA, 706.798.8886. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 23, 2009 from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at The Poteet Funeral Home. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia S. Vaught of Hephzibah; daughter, Anita Vaught Oetgen and granddaughter Tori Oetgen of Atlanta, GA; Son, Rick Vaught, his wife Lori, and their children, Tyler, Matthew and Sarah Vaught of Aiken, SC; Daughter, Julie Vaught Jones and her children, Jennifer Payne of Weston, GA, Allen Schumann and Harrison Jones of Atlanta and Great grandson Jameson Payne of Weston, GA; Brothers, John M. Vaught, Jr of Conway, SC and Lt Gen (ret) James B. Vaught of Myrtle Beach, SC; Sisters Carol V. Lewis of Anderson, SC and Vina V. Floyd of Kingstree, SC. He is preceded in death by his parents, John M. Vaught Sr. and Ruth Thompson Vaught of Conway, SC; Brothers Commander (ret) Thomas B. Vaught of Poway, CA, Paul M. Vaught of Conway, SC and his sister Jean V. Powell of Myrtle Beach, SC. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Center for Hospice and Palliative Care in Augusta, GA or a charity of one's choice.
