AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Monday, April 20th, 2009, at her residence, Mrs. Margaret Caroline Pritchard Black, 87, of Augusta, GA, wife of James M. Black and daughter of the late Jacob and Bessie Richardson Pritchard. Born in Trenton, SC, she was a graduate of Leavelle McCampbell High School, Graniteville, SC and was a member of Graniteville First Baptist Church. She was a charter member of Brigadier General E. Porter Alexander Chapter 2671 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She is survived by her children, Don L. Black, Cheyenne, WY, Margaret Elaine Gatliff, Edgehill, GA, Marcia Gray, Augusta, GA, Lora Moore, Anderson, SC, and John Black, Appling, GA; nephew, Charles Pritchard, Charleston, SC; special niece, Betty Vickers Price, Aiken, SC; twenty one grandchildren and thirty five great-grandchildren. The only girl of seven children, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Willie T., Arthur, E.J., Roy, Laurie, and Carroll Pritchard. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 25th, 2009, at 4 o'clock from the graveside in Westover Memorial Park, Augusta, GA. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. If so desired, memorials may be made to the Brigadier General E. Porter Alexander Chapter 2671 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
