Writer gets tea parties totally wrong

  • Follow Letters

As I stomached my way through Lowell Greenbaum's letter ("Republicans brewing some bitter tea, April 20), I recalled the words of Bertrand Russell: "A stupid man's report of what a clever man says can never be accurate, because he unconsciously translates what he hears into something he can understand." I understand that Greenbaum is the Richmond County Democratic Party chairman. However, if he is going to give three cheers for the party, he should try to make sense and have it rooted in truth.

The tea party was nonpartisan. Was he there? No! I was. His rambling stated, "If it is nonpartisan, how come Republicans such as Paul Broun and Newt Gingrich are leading distributors of the tea bags?" I will not speak for these two gentlemen. But I will say that I heard Paul Broun in no uncertain terms express his displeasure with Democrats and Republicans for their out-of-control spending.

Greenbaum writes, "According to the Obama plan, we will be reducing the debt over the next few years while increasing millions of jobs." Really? Obama and this Congress have spent more than $1.5 trillion in alleged stimulus funds. Now we have a $3.65 trillion budget. How is that reducing the debt? Greenbaum probably believed Barry Soetoro when he told Congress that the stimulus plan had no earmarks or pork. I guess Greenbaum is grading Soetoro on what he says, not what he does.

As for millions of jobs, time will tell. However, remember the hundreds of billions of dollars spent to rescue mortgages? Only one has been saved thus far. Don't hold your breath waiting for the deficit to decline and millions of jobs to be created. I'm still waiting for the 100,000 additional police officers President Clinton promised the crime bill would deliver.

This president and Congress have woken a sleeping giant; we are mad as hell and we're not going to take it anymore.

Political correctness will

Political correctness will win out in a society that sits by and lets life happen to them. Action needs to be taken to overcome this horrible experiment. The next 3.5 years will be very tough on America.

The next 3.5 years will be

The next 3.5 years will be easy compared to the eight that preceded it. The eight years that preceded Obama's ascension to the White House was full of persecutions of progressives by the far right and now we are paying them back double and they don't like it. Well, guess what? Karma has come to bite you all. Flush the GOP in 2010, flush the GOP in 2012, and flush the GOP in 2014.

PT, you say that "action

PT, you say that "action needs to be taken to overcome this horrible experiment." Just what, exactly, are you proposing? Again and again, I read this sort of tripe on these boards. Three months in, and you're convinced, first, that the country is falling apart; second, that it's all Obama's fault; and third, that an armed uprising is necessary or inevitable (depending upon your particular brand of lunacy). I submit that you people have lost your bloody minds. Retired Army, your point is well taken.

You have to objectively view

You have to objectively view how Obama's administration has performed so far. I admit it is early on, but it has been a horrendous beginning... From the flip flopping on various issues and poor foreign policy performance to his numerous cabinet choices who had to withdraw when information was released... We are trusting this administration with trillions that will put this country in debt for the next 50 years? In the face of all this he now decides to push for free and complete health care for those who don't pay? Guess who will pay for them? It's time to question the administration's policies without being called names by MSNBC. Just look at the facts.

midwest, are you implying

midwest, are you implying that your blind support for Obama is based on him not influencing what his administration does? Are you implying that Obama is not controlling the very obvious agenda? Do you think you'll look good in a brown shirt? I'm not proposing anything. I'm stating that Americans need to remove as much of the support for this mad Marxist as possible in 2010 and remove Obama in 2012. The foolish experiment needs to end soonest.

My support for Obama is

My support for Obama is anything but blind. Listen, I even supported Bush, though I never voted for him, until he proved unworthy of support. I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Calling Pres. Obama that "mad Marxist" does not make him so, except in your bizzarro universe. Your relentless chatter about brown shirts is so over the top, you'd have to be a paranoid or willfully moronic to buy into it.

Lowell, and his ilk have no

Lowell, and his ilk have no concept of "the truth." I try to understand their points when it comes to their defense of the Democratic Party and liberlism in general, ... I really do. But it is difficult to understand the rationale of everyday, (seemingly sane) folks whom don't seem to understand facts. Instead they blatantly lie to give their view credence. These peeps with Obama & Lowell as their mentors are pussillanimous and not to be taken seriously..

midwest, you haven't heard

midwest, you haven't heard Obama sign the praises of Karl Marx since he started in politics? You haven't read how he always hung with Marxists in school and the reason so many of his writings are hidden is because they're so far left? You haven't read his book? Did you hear Hugo Chevez sing the praises of socialism coming to the United States under Obama? Just a little research into history will tell you how the "brown shirts" were the blind followers of a previous charismatic leader who could do no wrong. "Those who ignore history are destined to repeat it".

PT, you just keep on with the drive-by attacks. What are you implying about Obama's racial heritage and parentage? You suggest it's a lie that he's "only half black". Are you questioning that his mother was white? What the hell does this have to do with ANYTHING?

So, WILLISTON, that's your reasoning for what's going on? We had 8 years of a Republican in the White House so we need to punish America with Obama's spending like a drunk on payday? Do you hate America that much? If you do, I truly feel sorry for you. Common sense obviously has no place in your life. As far as "flushing," that's exactly what is happening to our childrens' and grandchildrens' futures with this deficit spending going on now. I hope y'all like this "change." If not, you need to let congress know about it in next year's elections or none of us will have a future. It will belong to China.
