All humility and no pride?

We understand he's reaching out. We understand he wants to soften America's image and show the world he can listen. And we support that.

But why didn't President Obama defend his country even just a little at the Summit of the Americas, in the face of a torrent of abuse from Latin American despots and leftists who make a living out of making the United States into the devil?

Nicaraguan leader Daniel Ortega trashed America for nearly an hour. Not a peep out of our president.

At least argue the point!

We fear Mr. Obama's gentility and lack of gumption will be viewed as naivete at best, weakness - or, at worst, tacit agreement.

Has it never occurred to Mr. Obama that the countries that seem to hate the United States the most have some of the worst records on freedom and human rights? Or does he just accept all criticism of America as valid, regardless of the source?

Or worse - does he agree with it?

Probably no one in history has said worse things about the United States more often than Hugo Chavez, yet Obama treated him like an old friend. And reports indicate Chavez is already using the warm meeting with Obama to legitimize his own despotic rule in Venezuela.

What Mr. Obama doesn't seem to realize is that some leaders don't hate us because we deserve to be hated, but because it behooves them to make us the enemy.

"President Chavez's whole foreign policy is predicated on challenging U.S. leadership," Jennifer McCoy, director of the Carter Center's Americas Program, acknowledged to reporters.

"I think most political advisers would tell the president, you know, it's fine to shake hands - hold the smiles," said CNN commentator David Gergen.

We hope the president's charm offensive pays off. But we fear he's too caught up in being liked rather than respected.

BY the way we are called

BY the way we are called rightests not racists, so get the lingo straight. This goes for the new presidents white side as well as his black side. Just because he's got dark skin don't make him African American only, he's born of a white mother but this is never mentioned by the left, only his blackness is exposed by the left like that moron Jenean Garofolo who is a great proofsource for what the left truly is The Spin Doctors.

When I saw his reaction or lsak of reaction to the 9/11 tragedy and the katrina tragedy- I really started to wonder where my judgement went- Its not like I am uneducated young person either- but to be SO wrong, it just freaks me out.

Shaglorious, Guilty as

Shaglorious, Guilty as charged. However, my insults and slurs are "mostly" directed at Christians that continue to insist that we ALL must accept their religious beliefs; and, I will more than likely continue to offer slurs and insults against them every time, by their posts, they appear to be demanding more than proselytizing. Provocation on my part? Not intended but, if provoked, they may respond to their hearts content. For my part, you'll find that I very, very rarely respond to those that disagree with my opinions. How will you take my post? As written sir, as written. Thank you for your comment. GGpap

WOW, lotta people blaming Bush for this mess. Guess what, it's O's mess now. He's sending troops to Afghanistan, by the thousands. Who's complaining? Can we say Vietnam revisited? The USSR did.

I just saw something

I just saw something interesting, japanese were executed after world war 2 for water boarding prisoners. we called it torture then. bush and cheney should meet the same fate for authorizing it. their lawyers also. and obama is right to apologize for their misdeeds.

Cite the source. Where did

Cite the source. Where did you see it? Is it a credible source? Can it be verified? It is very irresponsible to come on and make that kind of statement without documentation of it. Please provide references.

Interrogator: See Washington

Interrogator: See Washington Post, October 5, 2006. "in 1947, the United States charged a Japanese officer, Yukio Asano, with war crimes for carrying out another form of waterboarding on a U.S. civilian. The subject was strapped on a stretcher that was tilted so that his feet were in the air and head near the floor, and small amounts of water were poured over his face, leaving him gasping for air until he agreed to talk." "Asano was sentenced to 15 years of hard labor," Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.) told his colleagues last Thursday during the debate on military commissions legislation. "We punished people with 15 years of hard labor when waterboarding was used against Americans in World War II," Other articles on the subject indicate that several others were sentenced as well. 15 years is not the same as

15 years is not the same as execution, GG. But thanks for citing a scource. I wish more people would do that. I guess Teddy would not lie about something that could be verified, allthough we do know that he does lie.
