MILLEN, Ga. - Mr. Daniel, formerly of Millen, GA, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2009. He was born Nov 4, 1907 in Millen, Ga. He married Virginia Howard in 1942. In 1975 he retired as Postmaster after 50 yrs of service with the Millen Post Office. He served 3 yrs of active duty during World War II and as Company Commander for the local Army Reserve unit for 24 yrs. He was a longtime member of the Millen Baptist Church where he was a former Chairman of the Board of Deacons and Sunday School Teacher since 1946. Mr. Daniel was a former Chairman of the Jenkins County Board of Education, Master of Screven Masonic Lodge #248, Former State Treasurer of Region 5 (Georgia) Hemorocallis Society. Mr. Daniel is survived by his daughter, Dianne Birts and her husband Jon of Snellville, and their children, John, Joel and Mandy. He is also survived by his son, Danny and his wife Polly of Charlotte, and their children Miles, Kelly and Annie. He has 9 great grand children and several nieces and nephews. Services for Mr. Daniel will be held Tuesday, April 21st at 11:00 am at Millen Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Millen Baptist Church, Millen, GA.
