Gerald Cruise Amesbury (AUGUSTA, Ga.)

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Gerald Cruise Amesbury, 80, husband to the late Barbara Karnes Amesbury, died April 19, 2009 of cancer at the Georgia War Veterans Home. He was born April 1, 1929. Mr. Amesbury was son of the late George William Amesbury and Kathleen Halliday Amesbury and was born in Central America. Mr. Amesbury was a Korean War Veteran with the United States Air Force and retired from a career with Mckesson. He is survived by two daughters, BJ Amesbury, Augusta, GA and Carol Ann Messiter, Laguna Niguel California; a son, Gerald C. Amesbury, Jr., Buchanan, GA; five grandchildren, Dustin Amesbury, Clint Messiter, Stephanie Kyle Messiter, Sloane Catherine Messiter and Emily Amesbury; two great-grandchildren, Austin and Ashton Amesbury. Many lives have been touched by his gentle nature during this difficult enduring fight. He never complained and was looked up to for his strength and character through it all. His children would like to offer a deep hearted Thank You to the The Georgia War Veterans Home for the most wonderful loving care and Kindness. You will be in our hearts forever. The family will hold a private graveside service at Pineview Memorial Park.
