AUGUSTA, Ga. - AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Willie Mae 'Betty' Henderson, God called home one of his beautiful children on April 12, 2009 at Trinity Hospice. She was born on October 31, 1923 in Augusta, Ga., to the late Adam and Almary Jackson. At an early phase in her life she attended the Richmond County School System at Floyd Elementary. She was married to Mr. Willie Henderson. He preceded her in death on February 14, 1998. She enjoyed her life as a homemaker and spiritual mother to many. Betty dedicated her life to Christ at an early age at Crawford Baptist Church, The United House of Prayer and later years joined Congregation Church of God in Christ Jesus. She served as the mother of the church for numerous years. She was an active and faithful member until her health began to diminish. She leaves to cherish her loving memory, five children, Maxine Wimberly, Henry L. Jackson, Phillis N. (Clyde) Scott, William L. Henderson, and Stephanie C. Williams all of Augusta, Ga.; one stepbrother, Eugene (Dora) Jackson, Sr., of Bartow, Ga.; one sister-in-law, Georgett Nelson of Brooklyn, N.Y.; goddaughter, Cassandra (Albert) Mitchell of Augusta, Ga.; godson, Rufus Sanders of Augusta, Ga.; 17 grandchildren; a host of great, great-great-grand and adopted children; two devoted and faithful cousins, Ethel Daniels of Jamaica Plaines, MA and Mattie M. (James) Lawson of Augusta, Ga.; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and loving friends. Funeral service will be held Sunday, April 19, 2009, 3 p.m., at United House of Prayer. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Congregation Church of God in Christ Jesus from 6-8 p.m. Sign the guestbook at AugustaChronicle.com
