AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Doctors Hospital, Ernest Tolbert, Sr., former Coach and Athletic Director at Paine College and Retired Educator, born February 22, 1928 - April 11, 2009. Coach Tolbert was veteran of the United States Army, Korean Conflict. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. from Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 1260 Wrightsboro Road, where Reverend Clyde Hill, Sr. is pastor, with Reverend K. B. Martin officiating. Interment will be in Westover Memorial Park, 2601 Wheeler Road. The remains will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 12:00 noon until the hour of service. **In lieu of flowers, taxable contributions may be made payable to Coach Ernest Tolbert Athletic Scholarship Fund, Inc., P. O. Box 16640, Augusta, GA 30919. Coach Tolbert was married to Betty M. Tolbert. They have three children, Ernest E. Tolbert, Pamela R. Tolbert and Patrick C. Tolbert; daughters-in-law, Patricia L. Tolbert and Lana W. Tolbert; three grandchildren, Michael E. Tolbert, Ashlee R. Tolbert and Myla N. Tolbert; three sisters, Iretha Trimble, Doris Tolbert, Cincinatti, OH and Louise Davis, Macon, GA; two brothers, David Tolbert, Macon, GA and Jesse Tolbert, Detroit, MI; four sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Hall, Gainesville, GA, Betty J.
