AUGUSTA, Ga. - Graveside services for Mr. Joe Freeman Edwards, 90, of St. John Towers, Augusta, Georgia, who entered into rest April 13, 2009, will be conducted this Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock in Pineview Memorial Gardens. Elder Edwin L. Tiller officiating. Mr. Edwards was the husband of the late Myrtis Hardy Edwards, his devoted wife of 59 years. He served in World War II at the Augusta Arsenal and in the Pacific Aleutian Islands Campaign, worked at Hollingsworth Candy Company, Howard Lumber Company and retired from Gracewood State School and Hospital System. He enjoyed gardening, country music and attending Edwards Family Reunions. Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by six brothers, Archie, Clarence, Earnest, Harold, Haskell and Odell Edwards and three sisters, Gertrude E. Campbell, Hazel E. Campbell and Reba E. Partain. Survivors include two sisters, Betty E. Smith and Myrtle E. Eubanks; a sister-in-law, Winifred Edwards; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. The family will receive friends at the graveside following the service. Memorials may be made to Central Christian Church, 220 Crawford Ave., Augusta, Georgia 30904.
