Where's compassion toward others?

  • Follow Letters

In reply to Lida Bellmer's letter ("Revolution against liberals is brewing," April 13), Ms. Bellmer is wrong on a couple of points.

First, President Obama has not tried to break the "spirit" of America but has instead tried to revitalize the sense of pride in the United States that the last president did his best to destroy in his quest of power.

Ms. Bellmer also is wrong about a revolution brewing. There already has been a revolution. It was called the election, where more than two-thirds of the electorate spoke loudly and clearly.

I notice that Ms. Bellmer lacks compassion toward people who made bad choices in buying a home. In her last line, Ms. Bellmer states that liberals "want to give anybody something for nothing." Since Easter has just passed, I want to ask Ms. Bellmer: Did not God give you something for nothing? Did Jesus say to give compassion and mercy only to these people, and not those people? Of course not. He said to love all men as your brothers.

There is no doubt that our country is going through hard times, but if we unite as a country and forget our political differences, then we can bring back the United States, and we can do great things for our country. I'm willing to try; how about you?

I was taught not to judge people, but it seems to me that Ms. Bellmer and people like her already have judged President Obama and given up on America. Shame on you!

Jay Collett

Well, as I recalled there

Well, as I recalled there were attacks against American interest during the Reagan years. I guess we can blame Regan for every anti-American attack that occurred during his Presidency? Also, I guess we can excuse Israel for their " Accidental" killing of our servicemen. You people are not even being realistic. Like we can stop random attacks against Americans everywhere.

Bush had one attack on US soil and that was after he'd been in office a mere 8 months. Clinton had several. No matter how many times you try to wish that Pinto to be a Porsche, it's still a f'n Pinto.

To rescue a bunch of spoiled rich kids that did not heed warnings to evacuate. Now Tech you know these right wingers do not want to talk about the men we lost in Lebanon. That would put a blemish on the image of their hero on his white horse.

Jay - You say you do not

Jay - You say you do not judge people yet you judged Ms. Bellmer in saying she lacked compassion. Obama's actions and words are worthy of and need judging. No one can judge his heart and his relationship with God, but we can judge his actions and words as well as we should.

Compassion isn't confiscating

Compassion isn't confiscating someone's property and doling it out to another. It's opening up your own wallet and handing out your own money. Democrats, as usual, have a warped definition of "compassion".

According to MOTORMAN, bad comments about GWB over the past 8 years were all warranted. Bad comments about old big ears are the result of people who listen to Hannity and Boortz, and can't be taken seriously. That's leftie logic for you, they're never wrong, they just aren't always 100% right.

From where I sit, I noticed that you are quick to jump on anything HYPOCRITE says, yet give others a pass. Kind of speak towards motivation. One thing I would really like to know is, why do I only see the word " Angry" used, when a Black person post on here?

Hannity & Boortz? Is that the name of the new brew at the local pub? Maybe I'll stop there for one on my way to the Tea Party. These folks would have gotten a bigger turnout with a Keg Party. And hey Brounie, you're doing a hell of a job. Keep up the good work.

Addressing the "compassion

Addressing the "compassion toward others" in the LTE: It's incorrect to cite a lack of compassion in the current protests. There has been more than enough of this federal compassion from both Rep and Dem presidents for decades. The central point is the almost $2 TRILLION deficit to accomplish it!

We found out this morning

We found out this morning what the Obama administration thinks about America. He had his Department of Homeland Security issue a report to all law enforcement agencies declaring that "returning veterans", anti abortion groups, and people with bumper stickers disagreeing with his policies are the REAL TERRORIST THREAT. No mention of Al-Qaeda or open border issues. So now he is using federal agencies against anyone who disagrees with him. Just another pre-cursor to implementing martial law before the next election. He will claim that all of the protesters and people that disagree with his marxist takeover and socialist policies are a THREAT so we cannot have an election until he puts down the "revolution". If the GWB had their DHS issue a report that claimed any or our protesting citizens, like ACORN, were a potential terrorist threat the public and the media would be screaming their heads off. But apparently the media and the frothing at the mouth Dems are not upset that our "returning veterans" have been deemed a potential terrorist threat. I know these groups are not a terrorist threat but I am beginning to hope that they are a potential REVOLUTIONARY threat. We need one now.
