Couple face charges of murder in man's death

  • Follow Metro

Two South Carolina residents are wanted on murder charges in the death of an Augusta man who was run over by a wrecker Thursday in Martinez, Columbia County police say.

Arrest warrants for Michael Faron Brown, 27, and his wife, Victoria Brown, 21, have been issued in the death of William Jacobs, 64, of Belair Road, Columbia County Sheriff's Senior Investigator Wynn Howard said Saturday night.

He said the victim and his wife were visiting friends on Roswell Drive where a homeowner was having his truck voluntarily repossessed.

About 7 p.m., Mr. Jacobs was struck in front of the home by Mr. Brown's wrecker.

"It wasn't an accident," Investigator Howard said.

Mr. Jacobs was taken to Doctors Hospital, where he died about 9:30, said Columbia County Deputy Coroner Harriett Garrison.

Mr. Brown left the scene without the repossessed truck, Investigator Howard said.

The incident is still under investigation, Investigator Howard said.

In addition to murder, Mr. Brown is charged with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, and Mrs. Brown is charged with battery.

More charges could be brought against the couple, Investigator Howard said.

Augusta Chronicle deleted everybody commentS about this story..only because nobody believes the story..how sad what ya'll can't take what ppl say about the writer?

HYPOCRITES 08

There has to be more to this story. Why do they think it was intentional?

patriciathomas

I agree Hypo. This story leaves out all of the pertinent information concerning why the charges were filed.

AreUSerious

truth will come out keep ya'll eyes open for it..and the agent did'nt know anybody was kill are hit..det always tell a half story.

Son of God

This was a time when the extra dollars needed for the reposession fees were not neccessary. This one could have been passed by. Have you not watched the news? Families are killing each other because of a lack of faith for finances. God will always provide for us if we believe. When things are getting rough, just leave the man's property.Repossesion is not an easy thing but I never could imagine it being a deadly thing. Now the young man's life cannot be exchanged for a fee. We must be mindful when we are on someone's else's property. How cold to kill them and take the vehicle. You really should frame that reposession fee. May God bless the family of the murdered victim. He propably was irate when they came to get his car but who wouldn't be? There is a way that seemeth right unto a man but the ends tgereof are the ways of death and destruction. The THIEF comes to steal, kill, and to destroy but JESUS COMES THAT WE MIGHT HAVE LIFE AND HAVE IT MORE ABUNDANTLY!! Now ETERNAL LIFE, THE ULTIMATE LIFE has begun for this young man. Thanks to the greedy repossessor. I pray thet God bless everyone and a lesson has been learned.

SOG, you are a sick puppy.

Grasshopper

I wonder why they deleted the comments instead of rewriting the story? It was poorly written.

Grasshopper

The problem is it was not his car it belong to the bank, and it is there right to take it. Read the bible its not a sin. The bible warns us not to be a slave to the lender. I am sad for this family and I hope justice is served by due process law.

SIGHER

It was a voluntary repossession and the victim was visiting a neighbor of the repossesee? Waaay too many details left out of this one. Like, why did they flee without the vehicle? Why is the wife being charged with battery? Sounds like a brawl occurred! Very strange.

Goaliemom1987

apparently a fight must have happened if they were taking the vehicle voluntary, then there shouldn't have been a problem. Where's the rest of the story????

GACopperhead

Sounds like the "visitor" was sticking his nose where it didn't belong, and then the whole situation got way out of hand. The driver should get his just deserts, but this could have come out differently.

DEVGRU

This is the most incomplete and screwed up story I've ever read. Get the complete story first and then print it. Where are the experienced/professional people that used to make up the Augusta Chronicle?

TakeAstand

SOG can't read and comprehend. You misconstrued half the story!!!! Second economy or not right now, people have always lived beyond thier means and not paid thier bills, what about the car owner who needs the payments for his bills moron. It's not the profession, its how each individual conducts his/herself.

convertedsoutherner

And now, for the rest of the story-----------

Stormy1

AreU, please learn how to type/spell/grammer. It is OR, not are. It is SLIPPED and fell , not slip and fell. It is THEIR, not there. There are other typos but I will leave it at that. Have a good day!

Stormy1

wow! SOG and milton, you screwed that one up. Please reread the article! The 'visitor' was not even the guest of the person having the truck repo'd.

mieshel

The AC needs some help. Makes me question all the crap they print...

convertedsoutherner

It's best not to comment on the happenings of the accident until the complete FACTS are reported.

convertedsoutherner

If, as you say, 'had the car hooked and driving away' WHY didn't he tow the truck off? Supposedly the truck wasn't towed away. Any comment about why 'if the car was hooked', when did they unhook it?

Does_it_really_matter

This is what happens when only part of the facts are available....we'll just make crap up 'til the truth comes out. The story was written terribly and the conjecture is even worse.

Stormy1

Uh Oh! Did I hit a sore spot? AreU, because they are not typo's. If they were typo's, you would not make the same ones over and over, even after being called on it. So, keep on making the grammatical errors and looking foolish. I will respect your wishes and not call you on your 'typo's' anymore. Happy?

momofthree

Stormy, AreU just likes calling people morons when they correct his mutilation of proper grammer and English. I just requested that he use a capital M when calling me a Moron.

jack

Why was this story run without filling in some of the details? Poor journalism.

Stormy1

mo3, lmao! I don't know why I bother! I guess he can't take constructive criticism. He won't listen. AreU is the type that blames Bush for everything. There, AreU...I used my political voice for the day. AreU happy?

asustudent8824

AreUSerious where in the heck did you go to school at? A 1st grader has better understanding of the English language than you do. Take my advice please stop posting or typing on this forum you are making your self look like an IDIOT

AreUSerious

Stormy why would i blame bush? tell me that being that you think you know me...I'm not in a recession like ya'll. it's not hurting me one bit

mypaper3

First off before anyone wants to run their mouth about something they need to have full information. The "visitor" was involved because the repo man hit his personal vehicle while attempting to remove the repossesed vehicle. He was not hanging onto the truck or attempting to stop the repossesion. He was only attempting to alert the driver to the damage done to his vehicle. Either way to kill someone and not bother to stop and running and hiding after the fact proves what this cowardly murderer truly is . We will miss u bill u are truly in hearts for eternity.

chadwick1977

Thank You so much mypaper3!!!
