Henry J. Gambrell (MCCORMICK, S.C.)

MCCORMICK, S.C. - Rev. Henry J. Gambrell, 90, of McCormick, died Monday, April 6, 2009 at Hospice Care of Greenwood SC. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Grace Barrett Gambrell of the home; one daughter, Gracie; and was predeceased by his son, Jerry. Born in Honea Path, S.C., he was the youngest of ten children born to Della Ricketts Gambrell and William Mack Gambrell. He was a graduate of Furman University and Erskine Theological Seminary. He pastored churches at Camp Creek, Enoree, Abbeville, Louisville, Ga., McCormick, and Troy Baptist Church. He was a sixty year Mason of Mine Lodge 119 and an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener. Graveside services will be Wed., April 8, 11 a.m., at Overbrook Cemetery. The family is at the residence on the corner of Washington and Pine.
