Letter to the Editor
Our country was founded on religious principles. The people of this nation used to have compassion for human life, and love for their fellow man. But now we're far removed from any type of morals. We have become a "me" society. Our greed has consumed us and poisoned our minds.
I'm reminded of the Book of Jeremiah in the Bible. It talks about how the people of Jerusalem turned away from God, and how God punished them for that. They did not listen or pay attention to what God was saying. Instead they followed the stubborn inclinations of their evil hearts. Jeremiah 8:6 says, "No one repents of his wickedness, saying 'What have I done?' "
I believe we are being punished as well. We as a nation have turned our backs to God. And until we repent and ask for forgiveness, we will endure the same fate that Jerusalem did.
