BELVEDERE, S.C. - Funeral Services for Mr. Hubert L. Lowder, Sr., 85, of Palmetto Avenue, Belvedere, SC, who entered into rest April 3, 2009, will be conducted Monday morning at 11 o'clock from the Belvedere United Methodist Church. Rev. Ann Everett officiating. Private family interment will be held in Sunset Memory Gardens. Mr. Lowder was a native of Manning, SC, having made the North Augusta-Belvedere area his home for the past 45 years. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II and a member of the Jesse C. Lynch American Legion Post #71. Mr. Lowder was an avid Gamecock fan. Survivors include his wife, Grace Lowder; one son, Hubert Lee Lowder, Jr., Woodbridge, VA; five daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy Lowder, Middleboro, MA, Christa Slaton, Auburn, AL, Jan Lowder, Opelika, AL, Fonda and Tony Slongo, Athens, GA and Robin and Michael Steinhilper, Columbia; two step-sons and a daughter-in-law, Gordon A. and Doris Groomes, North Augusta and Richard W. Groomes, Augusta; a sister Maria Stukes, Manning, SC; five grandchildren, Elton Dodson, Brooks Jennings, Jordan Jennings, Beth Nesmith and Elle Lease; four great-grandchildren.
