AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Philip J. Phillips, 88, beloved husband of Anastasia "Nina" Phillips, entered into rest Thursday, April 2, 2009 at Select Specialty Hospital. Funeral services will be 11 AM, Monday, April 6, 2009 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 953 Telfair Street, with Father Vasile Bitere officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery. Mr. Phillips was a native of Albania and moved to the United States at the age of 18. He became a very successful businessman. Mr. Phillips was an active member, deep believer and prior President of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Mr. Phillips leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 68 years; nephew, John (Ana) Tzolis; grandniece and grandnephews, Maria, John Jr. and Hristos Tzolis. Also family members living abroad, his nieces, Vasiliqi Natsi, Chrisanti Mitrushi and multiple grandnieces and grandnephew living in Athens, Greece. In addition to his family, he is survived by his very close friends, Van Pagounas of Chicago, Staci (Ed) Decaletelere and family and many additional friends of the Greek Community. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 953 Telfair Street, Augusta, Georgia 30901.
