Truck driver killed in Interstate 20 accident
An accident Friday afternoon killed South Dakota trucker and backed up Interstate 20 traffic for miles. McDuffie County Coroner Rhusha Mack identified the victim as Vincent Harvert, 45.
Mother charged with beating 6-year-old boy
Franca Jacinda Grier, 29, was arrested Thursday on a charge of first-degree child cruelty, accused of beating her son with a belt. The Augustan said she was trying to discipline her 6-year-old son after he got in trouble at school, said Richmond County sheriff's Investigator Mark Dobbins. The boy's face, head, back and arms were injured, and he had a broken blood vessel in an eye, the investigator said.
Manslaughter convict will be freed on parole
Dorothy L. Phillips, an Augusta woman convicted of voluntary manslaughter in a shooting, will be released Monday on parole 11 years into a 15-year sentence.
Former NFL player's business searched.
The FBI served a search warrant Friday at Arthur Marshall Realty Inc. in Martinez.
Arthur Marshall is a former Hephzibah High , UGA and NFL football player who filed for Chapter 11 last August for another business. A local American Legion Post is accusing him of cheating members out of more than $77,000.

Mr. Smooth, A.K.A., Arthur Marshall, seems to have stepped smack-dab in the middle of a housing market bubble as it busted. I wonder if his personal McMansion is in jeopardy of foreclosure. I doubt it. He seems to have squandered his millions of dollars and now his reputation.
