HEPHZIBAH, Ga. - William Patrick Johnson, 83, entered into a peaceful rest on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 4, 2009 at The Lumpkin Road Baptist Church with the Reverend Don Stone officiating. Pallbearers will be Keith Dickey, Jeff Washington, Tommy Williams, Dennis Brooks, Alvin Mixon and Junior Branham. Honorary Pallbearers will be the McDonald's Morning Coffee Club and members of the Augusta Motorcycle Club. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mr. Johnson was a carpenter and construction supervisor for J. C. Stockton Construction Company and Daniel Construction Company at Columbia Nitrogen Plant. He was also a retired Navy Veteran of World War II, a member of the Augusta Motorcycle Club, former member of Green Meadows Country Club, an announcer at Augusta International Speedway for many years, an avid Braves fan and a 'Die Hard' Republican. He is preceded in death by his parents Mr. & Mrs. James Dalton Johnson, two brothers and two sisters. He will be remembered and missed by his loved ones left behind, two sons, Stephen (Jackie) Johnson, Bill (Jody) Johnson; daughter, Shelby (Keith) Washington, seven grandchildren, Bo Fanning, Melissa Johnson, Ryan, Kaylin and Gena Washington, Amanda and Abigail Johnson; five great grandchildren and three sisters, Anne Falk, Jean Iacovetta, Sara Abney. The family will receive friends from 7:00 -9:00 p.m., Friday, April 3, 2009 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Road, Augusta, Georgia. 706-793-0123
