We thank you Lord for this rain.
The Augusta area received more than 2 inches of rain from Wednesday night through Thursday afternoon.
Heavy rains briefly closed Marks Church Road on Thursday morning, and a number of traffic accidents were reported.
The Georgia Department of Transportation closed Marks Church about 9 a.m., and crews reopened it an hour-and-a-half later.
At 7:18 a.m. a Chevrolet Impala crashed into the back of a school bus at Richmond Hill and Bungalow roads, said Richmond County sheriff's Lt. Scott Gay. The bus was headed to T.W. Josey High School.
Two students were examined for back problems but did not require treatment.
Other crashes held up traffic in the area. Two cars collided at the intersection of William Few Parkway and Washington Road in Evans about 7:30 a.m., a Columbia County 911 dispatcher said. Another two-car crash at Old Petersburg and Old Evans roads in Martinez held up traffic for nearly an hour.
