Two men face murder charges in boat crash

SOCASTEE, S.C. --- Two South Carolina men are facing murder charges after police say they smashed into a boat and killed an Aiken teenager on the Intracoastal Waterway while fleeing a burglary.

Prosecutors on Thursday said a grand jury indicted 28-year-old Nicholas Macklen and 21-year-old Brandon Scott McDevitt. Both are from Myrtle Beach.

Authorities said the men broke into a house and stole a television before taking off in a boat and crashing into another vessel near Socastee in August. The wreck killed 13-year-old Shane Odermatt of Aiken and injured three others.
