The bottom line

Downtown has turned itself into a golf course for Masters Week, starting tonight -- with the First Friday celebration -- through Saturday, April 11.

In the "Play Through Downtown" game, shoppers use a score card and visit up to 18 specified downtown businesses where they guess how many items are in a glass tee. They simply visit a minimum of nine of them (or all 18) sometime in the week to qualify for prizes for the closest guesses at each "hole." The score card with the closest cumulative score for all 18 holes wins a white jacket.

It's fun and creative and a great way to piggyback on the excitement of the Masters.

We just love that downtown is doing this. And it's indicative of a new wave of enthusiasm, entrepreneurship and event planning sweeping our downtown shops.

Come out and play through downtown.

I have not see or heard the first ad promoting the game.

What a cool promotion. Why the secrecy. I agree with ColCo, why no televised or broadcast support?

I love getting drunk when everyone else is too.
