STATESVILLE, N.C. - JoAnn Partain, 71, formerly of Augusta, went to be with the Lord on March 12, 2009 after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Beverly Crowe and a brother, Edward Crowe. She is survived by three children, Mrs. Beverly Collins Mura (Alex) of Martinez, Mr. Russell Collins (Ginger) of Harmony, N.C. and Mrs. Barbara Collins Holland (Robbie) of Statesville, N.C.; two granddaughters, Christy Collins of St. Helena Island, S.C. and Meredith Holland of Statesville, N.C.; a sister, Erlene Smith of St. Helena Island, S.C.; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Virginia Crowe of Augusta and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Partain was a retired nursing assistant and was a member of Landmark Church of God. She donated her body to Bowman Gray School of Medicine in North Carolina with the knowledge that even in death she may help others to live.
