AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Monday, March 23, 2009 at his residence after an extended illness, Mr. James W. Perry, 85, of Miller Street. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Gilbert-Lambuth Chapel, Paine College with Reverend Dr. Donald R. Jordan officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olive Memorial Gardens. **The family will receive friends this evening from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Perry was a native of Stoney Creek, Virginia and a member of Trinity Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, where he served as a Trustee, Steward and member of the Male Ensemble. He was an educator and taught for 35 years, before his retirement with the Richmond County Board of Education. Mr. Perry served in the United States Army, veteran of World War II. Survivors are a dedicated and devoted wife of 55 years, Mabel Wingfield-Perry; two loving daughters, Waltina Perry-Holston and Wynneen Perry; two grandsons, Darien Holston and Derrell Holston; two nieces, Brenda (Gary) King and Pamela Westry-Rogers; two nephews, Joseph (Felicia) Westry and Terrence Westry; great nephews and great nieces; dutiful cousins, Linda (Nathaniel) Wiley, Mary (Earl) Berry and Velvie B.
