COLUMBIA, S.C. - William Hammond, 69, entered into rest Saturday, March 21, 2009 in Augusta, GA at MCG. Born in Allendale, S.C., he was preceded in death by his parents, Leon Hammond and Catherine Scott Hammond. He is survived by his daughters, Sandra Tobin of Augusta and Gwendolyn Thomas of N.Y.; one son, Douglas Thomas of N.Y.: two sisters, May Bell Lawson and Verdie Mae Murphy; one brother, the late Leon Hammond Jr.; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Leevy's Memory Chapel in Columbia, S.C. on Taylor St. Viewing will be Friday, noon-5p.m., at the funeral home.
