Let's get behind our new president

  • Follow Letters

In response to Richard Peyton's letter March 12 ("Democrats just don't understand"), he really needs to get his facts straight.

The Democrats didn't take control of both houses of Congress, until the year 2006, and even then, the Senate did not have enough votes to override George Bush's veto pen. And let me remind everyone reading this that his veto pen did not come out once until the Democrats took control in 2006.

We all became one nation, after 9-11, and we all rallied behind and supported President Bush, and went boldly into Afghanistan. Everything began to unravel, however, when he gave us that sob story that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction that which we never found! And the whole eight years while he was in office, it was spend, spend, spend! That's why we now find ourselves in the dismal shape that we are now in economically. And it was all to finance a war into which we should have never gotten involved .

Now we have a new president, and the majority of the American people have spoken, and voted for change Nov. 4. He hasn't even been in office for nine weeks. Can't we now come together as one nation again, rally around the president and try and find common ground at getting us out of this mess that the Republicans so recklessly got us into over the past eight years? ...

Please, can't we all just come together? I am not wild about having to put this great nation into greater debt either, but at least President Obama realizes that to do nothing would be the end of this wonderful democracy! Please, people, put aside bickering partisan politics as usual, and give change a chance. Yes we can, and yes we will! The Republicans are just whining, crybaby sore losers!

President Barack Obama's budget would produce $9.3 trillion in deficits over the next decade, more than four times the deficits of Republican George W. Bush's presidency, congressional auditors said Friday.

Daddyrabbit

NObama is what's wrong with this nation. Pelosi and Reid are already behind him and that's one of the wrong things. Sure, Mr Bush did some wrong things, but, just because of that it doesn't mean it's okay for NObama to do it too. What he want's to spend isn't even all his. It's ours! A lot of them voted for him out of stupidity and believing that change is always better...the rest voted PURELY to make history without any regard for this country. Mr Thompson, did you ever think that part of this mess would not have happened had he not hurried Congress's decision on the bogus stimulus bill. He also promised 5 days to read a bill before voting on it and then bullied Congress into voting immediately without reading the nearly 1100 page bill. If YOU could read something that long, how long would it take? It was the old standard Government policy..."HURRY UP AND WAIT" as the jobs he promised either will mostly come much later OR as in Al Gore's bogus gobal warming scare, go to foreign companies overseas. NObama SUCKS!!!!!

We need to get behind Hussien and kick him BACK to Kenya!

Newsflash, Dan, the congress only was under the Repubs control from 1993 to 2006. Democrats held the lead there from 1953 until 1993. Do the math, that's 40 years! And you got a Hell of a lot of nerve complaining about the flack that Old Big Ears is taking now when W had 8 years of this crap, including when the Dow was topping 14,000, from whiners just like you. You don't like your man getting slapped? Tough. He's in the big leagues now. It's time to make good all those promises he made while campaigning. And since that won't happen, you better get used to hearing a lot of crap thrown at him. Welcome to politics baby and have a wonderful day!

I will show the President the same kind of respect that Bush received from the Democrats. NONE!

Please, not just BHO it's all of the Dumocrats. They must go!

The Republican-loving fat cats of Wall Street are the only ones who understand how they looted our financial system. I think these professionals deserve a retention bonus for what they've done. The retention bonus they deserve is JAIL.

Dan: I'm with you, but unfortunately you and I are amongst a multitude of critics, cynics, and faux patriots who do not believe in America, they just say they do..It's a southern thing mostly. They think being a patriot is a lapel pin or a bumper sticker, not something in your heart and actions. They think diversity equals death to their ideals and heritage, and they refuse to pull out the chair to seat the new demograpic of people who now have a place at the table..The same demographic that for centuries set the table, cooked the food for that table, and served the guest..CHANGE to these faux patriots is scary..Bless their hearts..Their contempt for others over the years is now come to ahead, and they must now confront the bias and jaudiced perspectives and ideas about their heirarchy they were falsely raised to believe..This CHANGE basically tells them their belief they are superior and others of other hues are ALL lazy and unworthy to be seen as equally American was a lie..But hey, we hope they can change, but the Change Train is moving, with or without them..They can do 3 things: Get out the way, buy a ticket, or stand on the tracks and get ran over!

b o, dodd and frank get the most money from fm/fm and it's the repub that are bad. geithner and the b o administration know about the AIG benefits to employees and it's the repub that are bad. bo and his administration make a 600 page billion dollar plan (that has the AIG benefits included) that no one has time to read and then vote for it and it's the repub that are bad. b o says he wants a trillion here and a trillion there, which ups our debt, and it's the repub that are bad. All this and more in the first 50 days of this corrupt administration. And the blind and gullible dims want us to give this inept and clueless prez time. We're not going to have a country, if he has much more time. They say he's the most intelligent and brilliant but it's been proven he can't even speak without his teleprompter.

Dan, I know you've fallen for the whole spiel, but no matter how you try to excuse O's actions, socialism will never work. It's what produced the economic slump we're in now. Remember the global warming scam, remember how certain so many were, remember the temperature rise ended in '98? Well, the same phony promotion for socialism is going to lead to the same thing. Nothing. If you keep being tricked by every Dem scam, people will continue to laugh at you. Buck up, be a man, take control of you own life. You don't need a nanny government. Now, put that computer down and go back to sweeping your floor.

Somebody needs to get behind Oboma with a pitch fork and give him a little reminder every time he want to give a bail out to keep some bank or business from going under.

mad_max

I want to get behind him......four years behind him. I never thought anybody could make Hillary an attractive alternative. But I was wrong, very very wrong.

I4PUTT

This must be the Peozi school of charm. Please, can't we all just come together? The Republicans are just whining, crybaby sore losers!
Now that's a sincere unification effort if I ever heard one.

petersteelmore

I want to get behind our new president-----and push his sorry, socialist [filtered word] right out the door!

petersteelmore

Danny, you are a total idiot!!!!

petersteelmore

Motormoouth, do you "feel" it, do you really "feel" it, in your Heart?

I4PUTT

LOL...Little motordude cracks me up. His posts alone are worth the cost of this paper. He reprimands us for not accepting diversity in one breath while threatening to run over us with the Soul Train in the next. I love his last sentence. Seems those options changed a bit from hopes of unification.. They can do 3 things: Get out the way, buy a ticket, or stand on the tracks and get ran over. You can't make this stuff up....lol

I4PUTT

This paper is still free, right???

Grasshopper

I'll get behind the president when I can understand what he says

It is actually quite refreshing to know that the Pessimistic Voting Bloc (the PVB) that is the CSRA, could not change what is really going in the entire USA. The fear, whining, weeping, and gnashing of teeth, will not help you in the long term. I was there and did that. I hated and despised and loathed the W and the Dick Cheyney; but now I forgive them. I have really learned some Christian values, and did you catch the "weeping & gnashing of teeth Biblical metaphor above? I have passed through the valley of the whatever, and now I am out there doing some good and trying to help all of you get beyond your fear and whining like I have done. I am a step ahead of you, do you think you can catch up?

petersteelmore

Niko, we don't care to be one of the mice (AKA sheeple), following the piper, (AKA barry obomoron).

justthefacts

LOL at Niko.

You can't get out of GW mess without creating defits. After we get out of GW mess than we can take the second term to reduce the deficit. Why we don't get this? HELLO! HELLO!

Geistlich

Mr Thompson, the majority of Americans has not spoken, primarily because the two-party system gave them no acceptable choice. You liberal democrats claim a mandate because your candidate won a plurality of the votes cast in November. Note: a plurality is not a majority. It simply means that your candidate got more votes than the other guy. Restore the election laws of our original, mostly unamended, Constitution. Offer the people a choice among five to fifty candidates and let the one with the most votes be President and the one in second place be Vice President. Let there be no Vice Presidential election, just the first and second choices for President. Give the State Legislatures back the choice for Senators, and stop that from being a popularity contest. The original government as framed by the Founding Fathers promoted inaction and grid-lock. They did that for a reason, and you see that reason when you look at the bloated pig that now rules our contry.

Geistlich

Niko, it would be good for you to join your own kind. Then the parochial ideation of the CSRA would no longer grate upon your nerves. I would suggest several locations where you might find solace in like companions: Oberlin, OH; Madison, WI; and New Haven, CN come readily to mind.

justthinkbushisstupid

YES WE CAN, way to go Dan! Thank you so much for keeping it simple!

slippery 25

I am confused Dan. You did not get behind the last President but you are telling everyone they need to get behind the new President. You did not set a very good example for us.

justthinkbushisstupid

I love you Motorman5039!

overburdened_taxpayer

Madoff, a democrat, made things so must worse with his ponzi scheme yet we keep being told the republicans are bad. Go figure.

If the economy rebounds during President Obama's 8 years, he will go down in the history books as the greatest "TIGER IN THE WHITE HOUSE" ever. Too many historians are already saying this. We all need to sit back, relax, and watch this Tiger make his moves. HELLO! HELLO! HELLO
