Eliza Jane Butler (AUGUSTA, Ga.)

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Eliza Jane Butler, 70, beloved grandmother and wife of Harold S. Butler, Sr., of Rollins Rd., entered into rest Wednesday, March 18, 2009, in Augusta. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 21, 2009, at 2:00 PM, from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with the Reverend Jim Johnson and the Reverend Wayne Todd officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mrs. Butler, a daughter of the late Jessie and Jane Kirkland, was a native of Emanuel County, but had made Augusta her home for most of her life. She had worked as a dietician at Georgia Regional Hospital and was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Jake Kirkland and Ben Kirkland as well as a step-daughter, Loretta Odom. Additional survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Donna Atkins of Augusta; step-son and his spouse, Harold S. and Robin Butler, Jr., of Augusta; step-daughter and her spouse, Dana and Mike Orander of Martinez; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gene and Linda Kirkland of Augusta, Frank and Sandy Kirkland and Bill and Teresa Kirkland all of Summertown, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Nell and Bill Beasley and Lena and Robert Wood all of Augusta, Pearl and Billy Burch of Edgefield, SC, Martha and Jerry Register of Belvedere, SC; aunt, Billie Williams of Eau Claire, WI; grandchildren, Elisa Atkins, Jacob Atkins, Dennis Odom and Vicky Albert; as well as two special friends, Miriam McGraw and Joyce Quattlebaum. Pallbearers will be Dennis Odom, Sean Burch, Dennis Kirkland, Thomas Kirkland, Steve Cox, Bryan Kirkland, Jeff Ely, Larry Butler and Darrell McNure. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, 2607 Commons Blvd., Augusta, GA 30909.
